Foreigner detained in Uzbekistan for promising UK Visa in exchange for money
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan have detained a foreign national who allegedly promised to obtain a UK visa for a citizen of Uzbekistan in exchange for money.
According to the press service of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee had demanded US$850 for processing the visa. He was apprehended while receiving US$350 of the agreed amount.
During a search, 84 counterfeit US$100 bills were discovered in his possession and were confiscated as evidence.
An investigation has been launched against the detainee, with legal proceedings underway in accordance with the law.
