Sanitary committee warns of potential hazards from buying ice cream from roadside vendors
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan has issued a warning about potential dangers associated with purchasing ice cream from roadside vendors.
In its statement, the committee highlighted that during hot summer days, the demand for cold drinks, chilled dishes, and ice cream increases significantly. High temperatures play a crucial role in the quality of ice cream, as it melts quickly and refreezing can lead to spoilage and deterioration.
Street vendors who do not undergo medical check-ups often sell ice cream of unknown origin, failing to adhere to sanitary standards and using containers that are frequently unsuitable for ice cream storage. These containers are reused but not properly sanitized.
Ice cream from such sources can become a source of staphylococcal poisoning, which can lead to severe infections, complications, and even death.
Furthermore, vendors infected with respiratory illnesses such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, stomatitis, and others can transmit infections to customers.
