On November 27, a presentation and discussion of the "Seismic Hazard Map of Azerbaijan," developed with new approaches for calculating seismic hazards in the territory of Azerbaijan, took place at the Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC) under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Center told APA.
The event was held in collaboration with the University of Victoria (Canada), the Standing Committee on Earthquake Design of Canada's National Building Code, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (USA), Michigan State University (USA), and the Institute of Earth Sciences and National Seismic Monitoring Center of Ilia State University (Georgia).
The President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Isa Habibbayli, stated that an important project was discussed today and that the RSSC is the leading scientific center in the country for seismic risk assessment, analysis, forecasting, and the identification of modern scientific directions.
After the discussions, the map was adopted by the participants, and it was proposed to publish it.
