Biden wants Trump to inherit hopeless Ukraine situation — Medvedev

Outgoing US President Joe Biden wants his successor Donald Trump to inherit a Ukraine situation that is next to impossible to fix, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the Al Arabiya TV channel, APA reports citing TASS.

According to the politician, this is why the US administration decided to allow strikes with ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles deep into Russia.

"I don’t think he’s losing it. There are several objectives here. Goal number one is to leave his successor, a guy he didn’t want to begin with, President-elect Trump, with as difficult a legacy on Ukraine as possible. Since this whole story was unleashed by the Democratic administration, it bears direct responsibility for this," Medvedev said.

The official pointed out that the US has already spent a boatload of money on the military campaign, which has caused significant damage to the Ukrainian economy as well as a large number of human casualties. "Here he wants to extend this to the new administration, so that they inherit the most difficult circumstances possible," he added.
