Azerbaijan discloses gas export forecasts for Europe and Türkiye in 2023

Azerbaijan has revealed its projections for natural gas exports to Europe and Türkiye for 2024, AzVision.az reports.
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov says, Azerbaijan is set to deliver 9.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Türkiye in 2024, which is part of the planned 25 bcm export target for 2024.
Speaking at the 4th meeting of the Energy Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Minister Shahbazov emphasized the strategic importance of energy cooperation among Turkic states.
He highlighted that the Azerbaijan-Türkiye energy alliance, with its magnificent contributions such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, TANAP, and the Southern Gas Corridor, currently ensures the energy security of numerous countries, including Türkiye.
"In 2023 and the first 8 months of this year, 41 million tons of oil and 37 bcm of gas have been supplied to Turkish and global markets through these pipelines," stated Shahbazov. "Out of the expected 25 bcm gas exports this year, 9.8 bcm is planned to be delivered to Türkiye, while 12.5 bcm is intended for Europe."
The minister also noted that the transportation of 2 million tons of Kazakhstani oil via the BTC pipeline to date, along with the agreement on the gradual increase of these volumes, serves as proof of Azerbaijan's connecting role between Central Asia, Türkiye, and Europe.
In 2023, Azerbaijan exported 23.8 bcm of gas, marking a 5.3% increase compared to the previous year. Exports to Europe amounted to 11.8 bcm, representing a 3.5% growth.
