In January-September of this year, 29.6 million cubic meters of gas were lost in main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 58.4% less compared to the previous year, State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics.
According to the information, losses in gas pipelines across the country in the corresponding period of last year amounted to 50.7 million cubic meters.
It should be noted that in January-September of this year, 29,571.2 million cubic meters of gas were transported through main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan and an increase of 0.5% in comparison with the previous year was observed. 56.8% of gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. During the reporting period, 16,802.8 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (an increase of 2.34%).
It should be noted that last year, 59.8 million cubic meters of gas were lost in main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 18.2% more than in 2018. In 2023, 39,283.3 million cubic meters of gas were transported through main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous year. Most of the gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. Thus, during the reporting period, 21,800.1 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (an increase of 4.8% compared to 2022).
