Armenia deputy FM: Only the possibility of communications’ overseeing by private company was discussed

There is currently no additional information about the announcement of delegating communications to open with Azerbaijan to an international private company. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mnatsakan Safaryan stated this while speaking with reporters at the National Assembly of Armenia Wednesday.
Safaryan noted that if the overseeing of these communications is delegated to an international company on the Armenian side, it is assumed that the same company shall carry out the overseeing on the Azerbaijani side as well.
"So far, only the possibility of this has been discussed. There is no additional information, its details have not been discussed yet, and there is no clear agreement on it yet," said the Armenian deputy FM.
When asked whether this would violate the principle of Armenia's sovereignty, Mnatsakanyan gave a negative response.
"It depends on the details. The company can serve. There will also be Armenian customs officers and border guards on the road. This is in the logic of the Crossroads of Peace project [of the Armenian government], although it has no direct connection," Safaryan said, adding that there is no preliminary agreement yet on it either.
