Azerbaijani, Turkish justice ministries ink Memorandum of Understanding

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov and Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries’ Justice Ministries as they met in Baku on Friday, the Ministry told APA.

The document envisages cooperation in reinforcing probation and penitentiary perspectives, and organizing mutual staff and training courses.

Minister Farid Ahmadov hailed the successful development of brotherly and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The minister underscored that the legal cooperation between the two countries is constantly strengthening.

Ahmadov also highlighted the work done on the implementation of the joint statement signed between the two countries’ justice ministries this May. He also praised the successful cooperation in probation system and organization of medical services in penitentiary institutions, adding that they achieved the desired concrete results in these areas.

Yilmaz Tunc emphasized that with the "Shusha Declaration on Allied Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye", the relations between the two brotherly countries have reached an even higher level. Highlighting the collaboration between the countries in the field of justice, as well as between justice academies, the Turkish minister underlined the importance of further reinforcing relations and accelerating the exchange of experience.

The parties also explored cooperation in the area of information technologies to ensure more flexible delivery of legal assistance requests, as well as more effective cooperation on extradition and transfer of convicts, and other issues of mutual interests.
