Two customs posts between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan now operating around the clock
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Two customs posts on the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have begun operating 24/7. The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan announced this.
From 26 July, the “Ferghana” post and the “Ok-Kiya” post, located at the entrance to the Shakhimardan enclave, have been functioning continuously.
This change will allow citizens traveling to Shakhimardan for leisure to cross the border at any time.
The decision to implement round-the-clock operations came after negotiations between Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Japarov on 18 July. During the talks, issues regarding the efficiency of border crossings, the possibility of opening new posts, and expanding existing ones were also discussed.
These measures are expected to help prevent congestion of people and vehicles at the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In May 2023, Tashkent and Bishkek expressed their intention to reopen three border crossing points along this border.
