Georgian police detains riotersprotesting in front of parliament’s building-VIDEO-UPDATED

Georgian Interior Ministry officers have begun detaining protesters near the parliament building in Tbilisi, APA reports, citing TASS.

Law enforcement officers are making arrests at the intersection of Chichinadze and Zurabashvili streets, near the parliament building.

At first, water cannons were used against the protesters, then the police began to detain them. Several people have been detained so far. The press service of the Interior Ministry has not yet reported on the exact number of those detained.

According to the information received, an employee of the Georgian Interior Ministry was burned as a result of the use of pyrotechnics by protesters near the parliament building in Tbilisi. This was reported by Deputy Head of the Interior Ministry of the republic, Alexander Darakhvelidze, at a briefing

Participants in the protest rally in Tbilisi set a fire in the building of the Georgian parliament, APA reports.

Protesters were throwing firecrackers and launched fireworks directed to the parliament building for several hours. A firecracker eventually flew in through a window and the fire started there.
