Conference on Azerbaijan-China relationskicks off in Baku-PHOTO

A two-day conference on "Reassessment of Azerbaijan-China Relations: A way forward" has kicked off in Baku, APA reports.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan, as well as Members of the Parliament (Milli Majlis), are attending the event organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations.

Ding Tao, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan spoke about the development of the relations between Azerbaijan and his country in different fields. He stated that it is planned to open Azerbaijan trade houses in China soon.

MP Ziyad Samadzadeh noted in his speech that Azerbaijan has always esteemed cooperation with Asian countries.

Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elshad Iskandarov spoke about the current fight between globalization and the preservation of state sovereignty.

He stated that the mentioned event is significant in terms of the discussion of the Azerbaijan-China mutual interests and the rapprochement of the positions.

E. Iskandarov noted that the hegemony is unacceptable according to international law.

The ambassador said that this is exactly the position of the Azerbaijani side and touched on the importance of cooperation in various fields: "At the same time, Azerbaijan, being a part of the Silk Road project, supports the encouragement of this project. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project is of great importance in terms of sending goods to various destinations in the world, passing through Azerbaijan. Of course, implementing such promising projects opens up broad opportunities for international cooperation. I believe that both countries are committed to further enhancing their existing collaboration".

The conference continued with panel discussions.
